I have my second retightening this Saturday (Jan 6th) and I will be combining all of my SLs. I now have 411 SLs with a standard deviation of about 20 locks. I was watching a movie and sort of lost count, but generally my locks are in the 400 ballpark. I am combining all of my SLs into two's, so I will have roughly 200 locks, which is still a lot more than traditional locs, but a lot less than SLs. The reason I am combing my locs is because I have grown to really love and admire traditonal locs and I in some way want that traditional look. This may sound generic, but if I could do this loc thing all over again, I would definitely go with traditonal locs.
So these pics are the last of my original SLs. They will be much larger in size on my next post.........

After pic (((((((I am now ready to party))))))
And Yes, these are SLs...........

Before pic ((((I need to get dressed for the Christmas party))))

Another Infamus Ponytail pic. Yeah, I'm stuffing my face so, what!!!!!

My Infamous ponytail. It's just so easy and downright lazy of me to tie this half SL half relaxed hair into a hairband.

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Best wishes and still keep us posted on updates.
u know, i'm going to be keeping a very close eye on u and your locks over there. i don't frequent many blogs, b/c as u can tell, i don't even frequent my own too often. *laffs*
i know u didn't just break out with the:
"I now have 411 SLs with a standard deviation of about 20 locks"
standard deviation?????? i bet that's the ONLY time EVER standard deviation and sl's have been mentioned in the same context. *smile*
i have never bothered to count all my locks, started with more than i have now for sure; probably a third or more are now composed of 2 or more, i'm sure. there are a handful that really stand out in terms of length and thickness, the ones i like to show people when they want to see how i "wish" they all looked! j/k!!! u know i love the diversity in my locks. *smile*
anyway, i'll come back and see what the new "merged" sl's are looking like, so keep me/us posted. glad u are diggin' the more "traditonal look", but i think u'll be happy with the merged sl's too.
oh, and don't think u didn't look nice for the party. *smile*
blessins.......
Goodnapps- I will definitely try to stay current with this blog and my latest SL change. I oddly find myself reading your blog more than I post to my own, but you know how it is.
Tai- Well, I thought standard deviation went well, I guess I could have said give or take instead, but you know writing 12-15 page research papers without double-wording is really contagious. It really seems to be helping me outside of school with my language/vocabulary skills. But anyhoo,…………………
After reading your blog and various other beautiful women’s blogs about there traditional locs, I would have to say it has played an integral part in my new discovery of the world of locs outside of SLs. Although my locs will be larger, they will still be maintained by the SL tool, so we will both see how it goes.
((Only if she had done more research)))
Thanks for the compli………………………
(short for compliment)
When I first read that you will be combining your locks I thought No, don't do it! but what do I know? You and I got our SisterLocks around the same time so I always check out your blog to see how you're doing.
I hope you will be happier with your "bigger" locks. I think Traditional locks are beautiful too and yours will be no exception.
Isn't this "locked life" wonderful? Each of our individual journies is so unique.
Ms Stella,
Well, we should both be approaching the 3 month mark soon. You know I also complain of very limited styles, mainly beacuase I am just lazy. I am confident I will be more happier with the combined locks. Can't wait to see how our locks compare and/or contrast.........
Is there a reason that you didn't go with traditional locks at first? Like everyone else I ankchusly (like the spelling?) waiting to see the finished product of your newly combined locks?
I believe you told me that Elaine installed your SL's is she doing the combining too? I've moved away so if u can remember tell her I said hello.
Good Luck! I hope everything turns out great! Keep us posted!
Do You! Is what I always say. Your locks will look good no matter what you do! I love all types of locks and the reason why is because there are several methods. I can't wait to see how they turn out so keep us posted on your progress!
I'm glad to hear that you are going for what you truly want. That's the wonderful thing about locs...you can increase or decrease if you find that the initial size does not suit you. I chose the larger sisterlocks myself (although I have 274 so they aren't quite as large as what you are going for). I did ask for the largest size and my consultant told me that this was as large as she could go and still be able to use the tool. I'm very happy how they turned out though and pray that you will be too. I'll check back because I would really like to follow your progress.
Btw, how does combining sisterlocks work? Will your consultant combine two at the roots and then 2-strand twist the two locs together? How will the combined locs actually mesh together?
I wish you all the best. I am sure whatever locks you go with will look good on you.
Wow! Combining all of them, huh? You go girl! I bet they will look just fabulous! You're looking like your're doing really well with them. Good luck with the combining and let us see the finished product, ok?
Tra- Yeah, it was a long-hard trimester almost like pregnancy……..
Valenciajazz, I wish I would have done more research about locks, before I instantly decided I wanted SLs. Don’t get me wrong, SLs are beautiful, I just want the locs I have a bigger size……..
Cluizel, Thanx, I will try to stay current…..
Sistaloc’d- Girl that’s right, you just have to do what is best for you…..
Deja- I wish you had pics…. Well, she would just get two locks, combine them (or twist) at the root, and use the SL tool to loc them as if she was locking one single loc. It is really simple.
Sister in Locks- Thanx Girl
Aundra, Thanx, too bad I am going to wait to combine them….
Yes, I realize that they are sisterlocked at the roots but I was wondering how the actual locs themselves would be encouraged to mesh together? I do have pics up on my blog btw. Anyhoo, looking forward to seeing your newly combined locs. Its wonderful that we have so many options.
Your SL's look nice, but we each have our preference. Best of wishes as you embark on a new phase of locing.
I'll be checking back to see your progress!! Thanks for sharing!
Maryee
I know how you feel...you just need to do what is best for YOU! Can't wait to see the results!!
