About Me

This Sister Lock Blog will chronicle the experiences I face transitioning from 9-10 inches of relaxed hair into SisterLock solitude. Contemplating Sisterlocks for a mere 4 months before deciding to ultimately take the Sisterlock plunge, I hope this blog will inspire "Relaxed" sisters who desire SLs, but fear the unknown. This blog documents my forthecoming sisterlock venture, set to commence Oct. 13, 2006.

I was Tagged also!!!!!

Ayankah I am so sorry for posting this so late, but I had not idea you had tagged me unitl I read your blog a couple of days ago.

Soooooooooooo,5 things you don't know about me.

1. Before SLs, I had never worn my hair natural. I had been relaxing my hair up until about 4 moonths before I got SLs, which is the complete contrary to the typical SL wearer. I still have no regrets about getting SLs, besides of course the size.

2. My absolute favorite food is Indian cuisine. My favorite restaturant of course is Taj Mahal Indian restaurant in Dallas. http://www.tajmahaldallas.com/
My usual is Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan bread, lentil soup, and Kheel (rice pudding) for desert. And yes, I go there 3-4 times a month.........

3. In the 6th grade, I received an award for reading the most books in the whole school. A record breaking, 104. Now that's a lot of reading for a 6th grader.

4. Growing up, I admired Jackie Joyner Kersee and Gail Devers. I wanted to be a track star just like them and compete in the Olympics. That dream was definitely deferred.

5. Lastly, I was the only Af.Am. at a previous emplyer for 2 1/2 years. Where in the heck was the diversity there?. I am so glad I am no longer there. I feel completely free to be myself at work now.

Thanks, for tagging me. I really enjoy your blog because it is innovative and non-typical. Yeah, I usually change my blog features by mood, so I felt like changing the colors a bit..................

Nice "5 things". That's a lot of books for a 6th grader! Yo girl girl!!! I know what you mean about being the only AfAm working in a place. There's a lot to bear.
