About Me

My photo
Dallas, Texas, United States
This Sister Lock Blog will chronicle the experiences I face transitioning from 9-10 inches of relaxed hair into SisterLock solitude. Contemplating Sisterlocks for a mere 4 months before deciding to ultimately take the Sisterlock plunge, I hope this blog will inspire "Relaxed" sisters who desire SLs, but fear the unknown. This blog documents my forthecoming sisterlock venture, set to commence Oct. 13, 2006.

Pre-Sisterlock Photos II

These are more pics of me before SLs
I will post SL 1st day photos this week...

Hair Dye + Relaxer = Double Processed
What a bad equation!!

Kinky Twist (Sorry no make-up)
This is the style that prompted me to get SLs.

Long Black wig.
(lots of make-up)
This is normally what I wore while transitioning.
My real hair was braided in cornrows under this wig.

I personally thought it was much easier to transition with a wig because it took me all of 1 minute to do my hair in the mornings.

This is my real hair
(no need for extensions)
Can you believe I had not had a relaxer in almost 5 months in this pic and my hair was still very straight. That straight hair would soon catch up with me.

Wait until you see my SLs with all those d*** relaxed ends.!!

Long Black wig
This pic was taken deep in the country.
(Tyler, TX)
There are no trees like this in Dallas.
Don't even mention natural sister in this town. I was lucky to come across a sister period...
This is a very rural area in Texas where we go to escape the busy city.

Still a Nappy Texan...

Quick Weave

These are hair extensions sewed into my real hair

My real hair in some kind of updo

Hi Lakeisa!

I enjoyed your before photos and I can't wait to see your Sister Lock photos. I was just Sister Locked myself on Sunday,10/15/06. I also sported the kinky twist but, they didn't look as nice as yours.

I must say this has been and will continue to be an exciting, interesting and joyful journey.

I'll check back and as soon as I get my photos uploaded to my blog I'll let you know. You're a week ahead of me so maybe we can exchange notes during these beginning phases.

Peace and Blessings,
Stella

You know, I probably would have used a wig when I was transitioning...except at the time I was in Indiana. I so took adavantage that there weren't other sista there who could shoot a dirty look and that my coworkers thought anything i did to my hair was cool. lol.
